Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you all doing well! We have had a very busy couple of months in 6th grade! The kids are doing well getting the routine down and we are learning a lot! I wanted to send out some info about a website that the kids can use to practice their spelling words each week. The website is called "SpellingCity" and it allows students to practice their spelling lists each week by playing online games or taking practice tests. The best way for the students to learn their spelling words is by practicing. I have set-up an account on SpellingCity which allows me to put up our spelling lists each week on the site so the kids can us them. Beginning the week on 10/31/11 all the spelling lists will be coming home with the students as well as being put online. It is not mandatory that the students use the website to practice, but I am hoping that for some students this might be a fun way to practice their words each week. If a student would like to use this website to practice but doesn't have access to it please have your student let me know.

To find the words on SpellingCity:

1) Go to: www.spellingcity.com and click on the red tab on the top right corner that says "Students".

2) Scroll down about halfway down the page and click on the link that says: "Find a List".

3) You may search for the lists by searching "Passetto" in the teacher's name search or by typing in the school's zip code under the school zip code search.

4) Once on my page you will see a heading saying "Vocabulary and Spelling Lists". I have loaded the spelling lists by week but also with the dates too. By each Monday the new list will appear.

5) The students can click on the week's list and it will take them to their words. Under the heading there will be their bonus words. Right under their bonus words will be buttons to push to go and practice their words. They can click any of those and it will take their list and place it in their activity.

I hope the students enjoy this new way to practice their spelling words! If there are any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to e-mail me at school: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Thanks so much,

Ms. Passetto
